Pencil, Chalk and Pragyan Gaur
When you break a pencil you though it away, But when he breaks it , people want to keep it as an artifact , We are talking about a budding artist of Indore , Pragyan Gaur.
He is a budding artist who loves to transform chalks and pencils to mini sculptures.
He did his schooling from different Kendriya Vidyalayas. Then pursued engineering from MITM, Indore.
Pragyan says :
“I had a keen interest in art from my childhood, mainly through sketching and making toys out of clay at my grandfather’s place during summer vacations.”
He says that “I started chalk carving during my 10th class, but that time I never thought of possibilities of exploration over it. I resumed it during Engineering. With a great encouragement from family and friends I started carving figures on chalk and pencils with an aim that each time I have to try something new, something different.”
As a medium Pragyan only use standard chalk and available pencils. His artworks including Lord Natraja, Spider, Vitruvian Man and many more are such examples which are either fusion of chalk and pencils or a 3D arrangement of many pencils.
To give pencil carving a new dimension, I started arranging them in a three dimensional space. He started mini sculpting as a hobby but as any other art form I learnt a lot of things doing this.
“To nourish my skills and creativity I am pursuing product designing from MITID, Pune.”
Team Ohindore wishes him great luck in future….
