Baha’i Community of Indore will celebrate the 197th and 199th birth anniversaries of the Twin-founders of their Faith THE BAB & BAHA’U’LLAH the evening of Nov 1, 2016 at Baha’i Bhavan Bhamori .
All over the world, Baha’i Community recognises them as “ Twin Manifestations of God”for this age . According to Dr . A. K Merchant ,the Secretary-General, National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of India “ The Manifestation of God is like the sun. When the sun rises, everybody sees it except those who are fast asleep. Even the sleeping ones must eventually learn that the sun is shining. Although an independent Manifestation, the Báb’s main purpose was to prepare the world for the advent of Bahá’u’lláh, the Promised One of all religions. Both of these Twin-Manifestations who founded the Bahá’í Faith were both born in Iran and hailed from distinguished families, The Bab from Shiraz and th BAHA’U’LLAH from Tehran.
Though He had not attended any school except for a brief period in His childhood, the Báb, like all the other Manifestations / Avataras, was endowed with a deep knowledge that was a gift of God. His father had died while the Báb was still an infant and He was raised by His uncle who was a cloth merchant, so he naturally taught the Báb and go Him involved in his business. However, it soon became clear to the uncle that the youth under his care was special and quite unlike other children of His age. The first to recognize the Báb, as a divine Avatara, was Mullá Husayn, a young student of theology, who had been mysteriously drawn towards the Báb from the minute his eyes rested on Him outside the gate of Shiraz. It was the third week of May 1844. Soon 17 others independently recognized the station of the Báb who in turn travelled throughout Iran and neighbour countries, including India. As the Báb’s message spead the entire region was stirred by spritual upheaval. In a matter of six years the authorities in Iran at the instigation of the fanatical clergy plotted the execution of the Báb which took place in July 1850.
At the time when the Government and fanatical Mullás were persecuting the followers of the Báb, (the Manifestation of God Who foretold the coming of Bahá’u’lláh), Bahá’u’lláh, Who had immediately accepted the Báb as the Manifestation of God and become one of His active followers, was not spared in any way. Nine years after the Báb’s Declaration, Bahá’u’lláh was thrown in a dark dungeon. He writes that one night in a dream He heard the following words vibrating from all sides: “Verily, We shall render Thee victorious by Thyself and by Thy Pen.”
As the Manifestations of God to the age of fulfillment, the Báb and Baha’u’llah fulfil the expectations of all the extant religions of the world. The truths offered by these two Spiritual Luminaries who rose successively and sacrificed their lives for peace and prosperity of the peoples of the world amid the welter and chaos of present-day civilization merit dispassionate attention of all.
For Bahá’ís, the astonishing advances in science that has emboldened humanity, far from making humankind arrogant must impel to discover the powerful spiritual forces of Dharma which alone would provide the necessary wherewhithal to counter the destructive forces of materialism. For, the fountainhead of truth, and that all aspects of social order should be rationalized on the basis of Cosmic truths and not upon atheistic philosophies that proclaim: God is dead and Dharma reduced to a bundle of superstitions and blind faith in cultic practices.
Bahá’u’lláh was born in the house of a distinguished Minister of the royal court of Iran. From the days of His childhood everybody could notice that He was different from other children, but no one actually knew that this wonderful Boy was soon to usher in a new era in human evolution affecting the destiny of humankind. He was 22 years of age when His father died. The government wished Him to take over the position His father had occupied. They thought this gifted young man would make a very good minister, but Bahá’u’lláh had no intention of wasting His time in the management of worldly affairs. Being a man of God, He took no interest in the royal life which was offered to Him. He left the court and the ministers to follow the path set for Him by the Almighty.
As the Manifestation of God to the age of fulfilment, Baha’u’llah is the one promised in all the scriptures of the past, the “Desire of all nations,” the “King of Glory.” To Judaism He is “Lord of Hosts”; to Christianity, the Return of Christ in the glory of the Father; to Islam, the “Great Announcement”; to Buddhism, the Maitreya Buddha; to Hinduism, the 10th Avatara of Lord Vishnu and the return of Shri Krishna; to Zoroastrianism, the advent of “Shah-Bahram.”
